Sony Pictures early today released the first trailer to the movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, where they unexpectedly wake up 90 years early during a 120-year-long journey to an interstellar colony aboard a 5,000-plus passenger spaceship. Here’s the 2:42-minute trailer:
The film, for which Lawrence, 26, is getting paid a whopping $20 million, is generating buzz because it includes her first on-screen sex scene.
Pratt, 37, is perhaps best known for the big screen’s “Jurassic World” last year and television’s “Parks and Recreation” comedy series.
Passengers is about a 5,000-passenger luxury spaceship on a 120-year journey to an interstellar colony. Lawrence, 26, and Pratt are unexpectedly awakened 90 years too early. Romance and Lawrence’s first on-screen sex scene follow — all of which she’s getting $20 million to act out. Pratt, 37, is perhaps best known for 2015’s “Jurassic World” and “Parks and Recreation.”
Oscar-winning Louisville native Jennifer Lawrence has been a spokesmodel for Christian Dior since 2012. The legendary French fashion house just released photos for its newest campaign for a fresh line of Diorever bags. (How much are they? Keep reading.)
Lawrence, 26, just named the world’s highest-paid actress ($20 million alone for December’s sci-fi thriller “Passengers”), says the bags are “chic, stylish and cool,” according to Women’s Wear Daily. Photographer Patrick Demarchelier shot the fall campaign in a New York studio, the trade site reports, with minimal props, gray walls and slanted light casting shadows on Lawrence’s prominent cheekbones and off-the-shoulder cable-knit sweaters.
Unless Boulevard’s crack fashion editors are mistaken, Dior describes the bag immediately above as one in Midnight Blue prestige calfskin, with the following details:
Reversible flap in Imperial Purple smooth calfskin, Cannage topstitching.
Can be carried in the hand or on the shoulder.
Dimensions: 30 x 23 x 16 cm, approximately 12 x 9 x 6 inches.
What do they cost? If you have to ask . . . actually, you’ve come to the right place! Boulevard believes these are priced around $3,400. Each. That’s according to Spotted Fashion.
But it’s not a Kelly bag
The ladies who lunch in Anchorage, Glenview, Prospect, and other luxe local redoubts will tell you the famous Hermès bag is the only way to go. Once known as the “Sac à dépêches,” it earned its better-known name after another actress, Grace Kelly, gave it a cameo role in an Alfred Hitchcock film. The backstory, according to Wikipedia:
“In 1954, Hitchcock allowed the costume designer Edith Head to purchase Hermès accessories for the film ‘To Catch a Thief,’ starring Grace Kelly. According to Head, Kelly ‘fell in love’ with the bag. Within months of her 1956 marriage to Prince Rainier III, the pregnant Princess of Monaco was photographed using the handbag to shield her growing belly from the paparazzi. That photograph was featured in Life magazine.”
Naturellement, you won’t see Lawrence carrying anything near the paparazzi but Dior. Still, given her eye-popping salary, she could well afford any number of Kelly bags, which this year sell for between $10,000 and $20,000-plus.
Jennifer Lawrence earned more than any other female actress in the entire world Forbes says in a new list of the top-paid actors and actresses.
But Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was No. 1 overall, which makes sense, given the ginormous physique of the former football player/professional wrestler/action-adventure hero/HBO comedy-drama series star. With a $64.5 million takedown, Johnson, 44, vanquished reigning champ Robert Downey Jr. to grab the top spot.
Lawrence, 26, came in at No. 6 overall with just $46 million. The second highest-paid actress was Melissa McCarthy, at $33 million; she starred in this summer’s all-female reboot of “Ghostbusters.”
“Lawrence,” Forbes says, “took a pay cut from the big box office gross of her final ‘Hunger Games,’ installment and plumped her checkbook with soaring upfront fees.”
The Oscar-winner got $20 million for “Passengers” with Chris Pratt. Scheduled for a Dec. 21 release, the sci-fi adventure flick is about a 5,000-passenger luxury spaceship on a 120-year journey to an interstellar colony. Still photos have begun to dribble out in the inevitable public-relations buildup.
Speaking of hype!
Today, Boulevard reveals its exclusive Jennifer Lawrence “Passengers” Countdown Clock™. There are now 116 days, 12 hours, and 19 minutes until that love spaceship launches. (Confidential to Columbia Pictures: You know where to send free tickets to the premiere.)
And don’t miss Johnson…
. . . in the incredibly entertaining HBO series “Ballers,” where he plays a Miami financial advisor to NFL players; that’s him in the photo, top, in front of an orange McLaren sports car with gulf-wing doors. New episodes air Sundays at 10 p.m. Here’s the season one trailer:
Lawrence became a household name in 2012 when she played Katniss Everdeen in the first installment of the “Hunger Games” series, according to News Hub. “Catching Fire” was released in 2013, “Mockingjay Part 1” in 2014, and “Mockingjay Part 2” last year.
She now commands eight-figure salaries. She was paid $20 million for the sci-fi adventure movie “Passengers” co-starring Chris Pratt. The move about a 5,000-passenger luxury spaceship on a 120-year journey to an interstellar colony is set to open Dec. 1.
The first still photos from the movie are dribbling out, including this one from Entertainment Weekly on Friday:
With 129 days before Jennifer Lawrence‘s $20-million payday hits theaters Dec. 21, Entertainment Weekly’s landed the first still photos (see, top) from the sci-fi adventure about a 5,000-passenger luxury spaceship on a 120-year journey to an interstellar colony. Lawrence and co-star Chris Pratt are rudely awakened 90 years too early.
“Alone in outer space with a giant ship as their personal playground,” pants the magazine’s Sara Vilkomerson, “they begin to fall in love just as it becomes apparent the ship is malfunctioning and endangering its entire population.”
And Delta Airlines passengers thought they had trouble last week!
Vilkomerson asked director Morten Tyldum (Oscar-nominated for 2014’s “The Imitation Game“) what it was like working with two of Hollywood’s hottest stars, and his response was enough to put us right to sleep:
“They’re so great together, and both of them are so hard-working,” he z-z-z-z-z-z-ed. “They take the characters so seriously and bring so much to the roles with charm and intelligence and charisma. They really went for it and it is phenomenal to watch.”
Whatever the chemistry, this much is clear: The jaw-dropping $20 million producers are paying Lawrence for the movie made her one of Tinsel Town’s most gravity-defying actresses.
Speaking of countdowns…
Lawrence’s birthday is Monday; she’ll be 26! It’ll be hard to top last year’s celebration with Kardashian momster Kris Jenner, a surprise bash that produced that infamous photo of the two in bed together. Lawrence, a big fan of of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” told The New York Times her two best friends (she didn’t say which ones) planned a big surprise within the surprise, according to People magazine.
Just as her pals started singing “Happy Birthday,” the actress said, “Kris Jenner comes out holding my cake, which is a pile of s—, with a sign that says, ‘Happy Birthday You Pile of S—.’ My knees buckled.”
And they say the Kardashians are trailer trash on steroids.
